Retaining Business Knowledge
Human Capital Films produces quality corporate films of high performing and valued Managers and Employees. These may be staff who are top performers or key staff who are due to retire from the business in the next 12 months.
These films can be stored in an online library and used to motivate and train other staff across the organisation for years to come. The films can also become a dynamic resource with regular updates / additions to the overall knowledge bank.
Our films capture the essence of what makes these people the way they are, documenting their:
- Insights
- Key success factors eg
- What has made them successful?
- What attributes do they have that help them succeed?
- What motivates them?
- Top tips ("the things that made all the difference")
- Greatest lesson learned
- Systems and good habits
Why is it important?
When experienced Employees leave an organisation, all of their knowledge leaves with them. This creates a knowledge drain that needs to be constantly replenished - and is something that will only become more evident as the ageing workforce will see many of the older generation plan retirement over the next decade.
That’s why it’s crucial to harness the intellectual property of these people BEFORE they leave. Our films allow knowledge to be retained and shared with other Employees. These people could include the CEO, a top performing sales executive, a 20 year factory veteran or Susie from Accounts who has been the lynchpin for staff morale.
What differentiates these people is the contribution they have made and the way they have gone about their work over the years, which has helped to build the culture and create the fabric of the organisation.
The Benefits
Our films allow organisations to retain valuable experience and knowledge that can then be used to help train the next wave of Managers and Employees coming through as part of the company's induction or training programs.
A secondary benefit of capturing this knowledge and experience is that this becomes an acknowledgement and validation of each individual Employee’s contribution to the organisation.
How do we achieve this?
At pre-production stage, approximately a week before filming, we meet with interview subjects to discuss topic options and to address and overcome any nervousness they might have about the filming. Our team has specific expertise working with people who are not familiar or comfortable with being filmed and we have techniques to ensure subjects feel comfortable.
Production consists of 2.5 to 3 hours filming time per Employee with a total of 3 staff filmed per day. This is then professionally edited down to individual films of approximately 10 minutes duration per Employee.
Finally, post production and editing (including flash animation) delivers the finished product as a video file or on DVD.
Who is involved?
From the CEO to the factory worker, it’s about capturing the experience of those people who have contributed the most to the organisation over their years of service. It can also be used to highlight the techniques of the top performers.
Where does the filming happen?
Filming can take place at the client’s premises or at our studio. A green screen allows us to incorporate any desired backdrop behind the subject being interviewed.
How long will it take?
The process takes about 4 weeks from start to finish.
